World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Item upgrades are a way to increase the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade it could boost an item's Mark Level or Rarity and boost additional stats.
Each item comes with a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next item by a specific amount.
Item Level
The value of an item's base stats increases when it is upgraded. This is the sum of an item's upgraded perks (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be expensive, dependent on who you employ and what you decide to do. This is due to the number of perks that need to be modified to upgrade an item.
It can also be used as a gating requirement when queueing for raids, dungeons and scenarios. It can also be used as a gating requirement while waiting to queue for dungeons and raids and scenarios, and to limit the amount of PvP gear a player can wear (since PvP is restricted to a lower level). The average level of an item can be found on the character sheet.
The level of an item can help players evaluate the strength of equipment when deciding to purchase or sell. It's a sign of the item's damage and its quality. Comparing items in the inventory of a vendor can be done by using the level of the item.
On your PC, you can check the level of the item using ALT, or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will display the item's full description, including ilvl. You can also locate it by hovering over an item and typing in /itemlevel chat.
There are a variety of theories on how the level of an item is determined. One theory says that the level of an item is calculated by formulas that determine the worth of an item's stats really are. It takes into consideration the fact that various perks have different value and that gems in sockets add to the value of the item overall. This can result in a calculated value for the item's level, which is usually quite close to the actual Blizzard level of the item.
However, this is not the only factor that determines the ilvl of an item, as the level of the region the item is dropped into can alter the value of its stats, for instance by adding an additional level to its haste rating or crit rating. Items that drop in higher-level instances will have a higher value.

Item Stats
Stats on an item are a significant element in what determines the value of an item for players. The game uses them in a variety of ways to encourage players to not limit themselves to one weapon and to encourage players to explore other weapons. The base stats on a weapon are increased by the weapon's stat modification, which are themselves increased by the player's skill.
The upgrades to an item can increase its stats. The costs for upgrades are determined by the rarity of the item. A white or grey item, for example, will only be upgraded once, while an item with rare tiers may be upgraded several times at more expensive costs.
Affixes are another way to change an item's stats. They are stat boosts which can be added by the player to an item. Affixes are used to give items additional damage or other special abilities (such as revitalizing dead or reducing cooling downs), or to differentiate them by putting a name on them.
All affixes can be re-rolled at the moment by selecting them in the upgrade menu and pressing the green button. This will cost a specific amount of gold and other items. They can also be used as upgrade gauges just like the other rerolling methods.
official website can upgrade an item to a specific stat, or reroll attaches. The possible stat ranges of an item are based on the level of the item, but every item is guaranteed to have at least one stat within the range, unless it's an item that is unique or an item that is a God roll from a boss in a raid.
Another thing that could change is the option to upgrade equipment without having to reroll attachments, or pick which stats to enhance. However, as with the base equipment, this would have to be performed on a per-item level, and the interface for item comparison would not display all the possible stats either lost or gained at the same time.
Item Luck
The Luck stat for a player adds up to increase the chances of finding items and the properties that are spawned from loot drops and the strength of these properties. It does not, however directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It merely gives players the possibility to obtain better gear in earlier waves, and is therefore more valuable in early game runs than later ones since most players prefer greater weapon scaling and defense over damage gains.
Luck can also boost the chances of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This should not be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade probability which increases with each level of the item and can be further increased by using an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.
The shields, armor and weapons have a default Luck value of 40. These items can be enhanced by golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the type of material used) to grant a further +40 Luck or to increase the existing Luck of an item up to 140.
Certain items, like the weapon with Hollow-infused components can also be crafted to increase the damage dealt by any ability that is able to deal damage by 5percent. These items can be found in the shops or made using the right ingredients.
Item Failure
Upgrades to items can be expensive and not every upgrade will be successful. Cash shop items can be used to increase the chance of success of an upgrade, or to protect players from losing their item in the event that it fails.
The success rate of an upgrade is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage indicates the probability of successful upgrading an item. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special materials. There are limits to how much success rates can be increased and the probability of a failed upgrade cannot exceed 100%.
The success of an item upgrade is also affected by the luck of that item. All items have an average success rate of 25%, and every item that has Luck increases the chance of success by 5%.
The item upgrade overlays are rendered above the items in the inventory. This can cause obscurity to enchantment effects or other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
